Design Week 2024 – Silence, music speaks

On the occasion of Design Week 2024, Location Pergola15 fulfils its vocation to host music-related events, becoming the House of Music.

The project is realised by Asian Fake, a fluid record label that promotes, through music, all creative arts, constantly yearning for freedom and participation, open to all forms of identity, in collaboration with Stolen Goods and Fluidostudio.

Soundscapes of all times and places

Over the years, encounters have flourished to discover the possibilities of vocal expressiveness through the ages and places of the world, from the sober monodies that once echoed in medieval monasteries to the imitative chants that animated the Medici courts, from corridos to the ladainhas of the Brazilian tradition. The repertoire through Pergola 15 ranged from mystical Gregorian chant to later motets, to the festive madrigals and fantasias for voices, lutes and viols da gamba typical of the Italian, French and Spanish Renaissance. Like a journey through time and space.

There was no shortage of performances including the sparkling Baroque repertoire, the much-loved and comforting legacies of Haydn and Mozart’s classical music (memorable was Dr. K.’s masterful piano performance, which began by inviting mediocrities the world over to shut up and internalise), the enveloping 19th century lyricism of Schubert’s serenades, Schumann’s albums and Chopin’s nocturnes.

Pergola 15 then hosted dreamlike musical journeys of traditions from around the world: concerts of the most varied nature, from the Choro, the backbone of Brazilian instrumental music to the Sephardic repertoire and Hindustani classical music. Rehearsals were held for musical parades (such as the Arrastao for Yemanjà), evenings with DJs that enlivened the atmosphere of private events for an extremely varied audience in terms of age and musical orientation, with an imprint of 20th-century ballroom music as well as ambient, disco, house, jungle jazz and tango.

Music beyond music: from team building to design week

Music in Pergola then became the protagonist of expressive team-building experiences, aimed at creating strong teams through the creation of ensembles, with members who communicate, listen to each other and interact in a functional and fruitful manner.

It is therefore a great pleasure, as well as the crowning achievement of a strong vocation for this location, to make a home for Asian Fake, which will set up the House of Music during the Fuorisalone, creating a truly cosy and personalised home.

One returns home in order not to lose oneself (just as one leaves in order not to poison oneself): home as an antidote to uprooting.
